About the Project
Cypress Creek’s Ostrea Solar project brings new, affordable and locally generated electricity to Washington as the state leads the U.S. in economic growth. Long-term land stewardship initiatives conserve critical habitat, support wildlife migratory paths and restore healthy native vegetation across the project site.
Microsoft, headquartered in Redmond, Washington, is the offtaker for the project, which is interconnected to the Bonneville Power Administration transmission system, adding new generation to the region’s power system.

Ostrea Solar was developed to deliver long-term benefits to Yakima County and the surrounding region. The project supports local jobs, generates new tax revenue, and helps power the region’s growing electricity demand. Thoughtful land management and environmental stewardship are also built into the project for its entire operating life.

Caring for the Land
Ostrea Solar was designed with wildlife corridors to maintain migratory pathways through the project area, including for Rocky Mountain elk.
Cypress Creek also worked with EFSEC and the WDFW, modifying the project design to conserve approximately 275 acres of critical shrubsteppe habitat, a threatened ecosystem found nowhere else in the state.
Portions of the site included degraded former cropland not actively farmed for more than 25 years and overgrown with invasive and non-native plant species. During construction, invasive plants that threaten native habitats were removed, and the site was seeded with selected grasses and pollinator-friendly flowering plants.
Community Investments
Cypress Creek believes communities hosting energy projects should benefit from investments that reflect local priorities.
At Ostrea’s groundbreaking, we donated $25,000 to East Valley School District. In Yakima County, Cypress Creek has also contributed $50,000 to the new aquatic center at Martin Luther King Jr. Park and participated in a back-to-school drive at Moxee Elementary School.
Fourteen Yakima County students have received $18,500 in scholarships through Cypress Creek’s Energizing Tomorrow’s Leaders program.
Cypress Creek has also partnered with Oregon Institute of Technology to provide scholarships and educational opportunities for students pursuing energy careers.

Meet the Project Team
Stacy Gramazio
Senior Director, Community Affairs
Stacy Gramazio has been with Cypress Creek since 2022, supporting the development of energy projects across the United States. Prior to joining the company, she spent more than a decade working in public affairs for Arizona’s mining industry. Stacy is a graduate of the University of Arizona and lives in Gilbert with her husband and two teenage sons. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking the San Tan Mountains and listening to true crime podcasts.
John Hanks
Director, Development
John is originally from the Pacific Northwest, but he now calls LA his adopted home. When he’s not working on developing solar projects, you can usually find him outdoors, enjoying nature. As an avid surfer, fisherman, hiker, biker, and camper, John is always on the lookout for new adventures. Yet, no matter how exciting the journey, he’s always grounded by what matters to him most – his family.
