John Hanks

Director, Development

John is originally from the Pacific Northwest, but he now calls LA his adopted home. When he’s not working on developing solar projects, you can usually find him outdoors, enjoying nature. As an avid surfer, fisherman, hiker, biker, and camper, John is always on the lookout for new adventures. Yet, no matter how exciting the journey, he’s always grounded by what matters to him most – his family.

With over 15 years of experience in development, including his early years as a contractor focused on commercial real estate, John brings a wealth of knowledge to the renewable energy sector. Since joining Cypress Creek, he’s dedicated himself to building projects that reflect the needs and values of the communities he works with. John believes that meaningful projects come from open, transparent communication and a genuine understanding of local concerns and aspirations.

In his role, John strives to work collaboratively with community members, bridging gaps in understanding and seeking common ground, whether people are passionate advocates for solar or more cautious about its impact. His goal is to create spaces where all voices are heard, so that together, Cypress Creek and the communities they serve can find the best ways forward to build sustainable, responsible energy projects.
