Illinois affirms commitment to addressing climate change with passage of major energy legislation
On Sept. 15 Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed into law the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, affirming Illinois’ commitment to addressing climate change. The law increases Illinois’ renewable energy standard to 40% by 2030 and 50% by 2040 and provides support for the state’s clean energy program, including jobs training. Illinois House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch said of the law, “Our climate cannot wait. Climate change is going to cost us more if we don’t act now. This bill not only acts on the effects of climate change, it also helps secure a future for the next generation.”
Cypress Creek is proud to be a part of the energy transition in Illinois. We will continue to work with communities throughout the state to develop projects that have long-term benefits for Illinois through cost-competitive renewable energy, jobs and annual tax revenue for essential local services.
